Ferguson backs Celtic to draw with Rennes – Is it likely?

Rangers legend and pundit Barry Ferguson has predicted Celtic to earn a draw against Rennes tonight.

The Hoops travel to France to take on the Ligue 1 side in the opening match for the Europa League group stages.

The hosts have started the season in fine form and are currently in second place, two points behind leaders Paris Saint Germain.

When speaking on PLZ Soccer – The Football Show, Ferguson said:

They [Rennes] are a decent team. They have got some good players, Rennes, I think they’re sitting second top of the league. That shows you what kind of strength they have got.

I watched Celtic two weeks ago in that Old Firm game, that was away from home, a massive game and if Celtic can produce that sort of performance, I think they can come back with a point, if not three points. I’ll go for a draw.

The Hoops will need to be wary of the threat posed by Rennes but Lennon’s men are dangerous themselves, so this could be a very entertaining affair.
