Stephane Mahe has opened up about his move from Rennes to Celtic ahead of the pair’s Europa League group stage opener on Thursday evening, and the former Ligue 1 man’s transfer appears to have set a trend at Parkhead.
According to Sport Witness, Mahe opened up about life at Celtic and revealed the emotion he felt when both joining the club and leaving Lennoxtown.
When you come to Celtic, you cry twice: when you arrive and when you leave. I’d just come off a complicated season with Rennes, and I didn’t have any offer in France… When I was offered Celtic, I asked myself a few questions. I knew nothing about Scottish football. But once I was there, I discovered the love of the fans and the grandness of the club.

The Frenchman proved how joining Celtic can resurrect a players career, following his tough time with Rennes, and also paved the way for his fellow countryman to follow in his footsteps.
Odsonne Edouard, Olivier Ntcham and Christopher Jullien are the current crop of Frenchman at the club, while the likes of Moussa Dembele and Didier Agathe both enjoyed spells at Parkhead.
