Former Premier League striker Jonathan Walters has admitted that he believes Celtic were not a “good fit” for current Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki, as reported on the Evening Times.

The Finland international striker has been in prolific goalscoring form since he moved to Norwich.

During his spell at Celtic, the forward only managed to find the back of the net nine times in 37 appearances. However, for the Canaries, he scored 29 goals in the Championship last season to help them earn promotion to the Premier League.

He’s started this season in fine form too, scoring six times in the opening five matches of the league season. Walters said:

He’s carried on with Norwich from last year. Sometimes players go to clubs and it’s not a good fit, at Celtic, it might not have been a good fit for him.

Whether that be family or anything else, it just doesn’t work out. He’s obviously on fire at Norwich, but sometimes that happens with players.

Is Walters right?

Some may agree and some may disagree. What is for certain is that Pukki’s finishing ability has improved massively since his time at Celtic.

Do you consider Pukki's spell with Celtic as unsuccessful?

No

Also, he seems to have become a more intelligent forward, making clever runs and positioning himself well inside the box, something which he lacked during his spell with the Hoops. His attitude on and off the pitch also seems to have improved.

He struggled with the speed and intensity of the Scottish top flight but in this Norwich system, he seems to thrive when playing on the counter-attack.
