Chris Sutton has labelled the lack of recognition Celtic have received for their display against Rennes as “typical” and he certainly makes an excellent point.
According to the Daily Record, Sutton believes not enough has been made of the Hoops’ display in France on Thursday, and Celtic definitely deserve more credit.
I heard one or two people saying Rennes weren’t up to much, but that’s typical when Celtic get a result away from home. Too often in these situations, folk want to look at the failings of the opposition instead of dishing out some credit to Celtic and that’s unfair.
This is a team who are second in Ligue 1 and have beaten Paris Saint Germain the other week in a stadium with a big atmosphere. The same PSG who hammered Real Madrid in midweek. That gives some perspective to Celtic’s performance.

Sutton certainly makes an excellent point, as very little credit has actually gone Celtic’s way following the draw with Rennes.
The Hoops stifled the Ligue 1 high-flyers and restricted them to very little, and as Sutton eludes to, that is highly impressive against a side who have beaten Paris Saint-Germain this season and currently sit second.
