Chris Sutton believes that both Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest didn’t “sparkle” against Rennes in midweek, and Neil Lennon may need to rest the pair in the near future.

According to the Daily Record, Sutton suggested that the pair were not at their usual best on Thursday but overlooked that due to the contribution so far this season.

If anything, the one department which didn’t sparkle as it can in France was the attacking unit. But given what James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard have produced at home and in Europe this season for the club and the manager, they get a pass.

While both Edouard and Forrest have played a lot of football already this season, and will need a rest at some point, Lennon will likely look to use the pair once again against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Will Lennon rest Eddy and Forrest against Killie?

Yes

No

Killie have caused the Hoops slight problems every now and then in recent encounters, and the Celtic boss is unlikely to rest both Eddy and Forrest at the same time.

While Lennon will no doubt be looking to complete the domestic treble once again this season, he may see Wednesday’s League Cup quarter-final with Partick Thistle as the ideal time to rotate his squad.
