Lennon rubbishes Sinclair rumours – Why this is a positive for Celtic

Neil Lennon has rubbished the rumours about Scott Sinclair’s future at the club, suggesting he continues to work hard behind the scenes, and his comments are a big positive for Celtic.

According to the Herald, speaking after Wednesday’s Scottish League Cup victory against Partick Thistle, Lennon issued an update on Sinclair and was sure to quash any rumours circulating about the winger.

He is still very much part of the squad. We have seen a good sort of reaction from Scott, he is not a sulker. His body language in training is improving all the time. He does what he does best, he came on and made a difference, scored a goal, looked strong.

Sinclair certainly gave Lennon food for thought following his goal against Partick, and while it only came from a rebound after he came on as a substitute, it will certainly be a boost for him and Celtic.

As will Lennon’s comments, which do suggest that Sinclair’s hard work is not going unnoticed. Therefore he still may be a part of the Celtic boss’ plans and does not need to look for a move away.

Lewis Morgan and Mohamed Elyounoussi have thus far been preferred to Sinclair as the backup option to Mikey Johnston, who is certainly the Hoops’ first choice winger when fit.

However a goal from Sinclair may do wonders for his chances as he looks to play second fiddle to Johnston and move above the aforementioned duo of Morgan and Elyounoussi in the pecking order.
