Calvin Miller ruled out for the rest of the season – Why this is a huge blow for him

Calvin Miller has confirmed that he will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on an injury he sustained while playing for the Reserves, and it is a huge personal blow for him.

The defender had been playing in a friendly against Hibernian last week when he suffered the injury, with the 21-year-old forced to come off after just 26 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Lennoxtown.

And while Miller confirmed the surgery was successful, he also revealed that he will be out for the remainder of the season as he recovers.

Miller’s injury for the rest of the campaign is certainly a big personal blow for him.

While first-team opportunities at Celtic appeared limited anyway, a strong showing for the Reserves until January would have bolstered his chances of potentially getting a loan move for the second-half of the season.

Miller would then have had the ideal chance to play regularly and develop as a player following his respective spells with Dundee and Ayr United last campaign,  which in turn would have either bolstered his chances of breaking into the Celtic first-team or securing a permanent move away in the summer.

At 21-years-old however, Miller still has plenty of time left in his career once he recovers from  the injury, and will no doubt be choosing to remain positive.
