Celtic send scouts to watch Shankland once again – Why Celtic should act quickly

Celtic have reportedly reignited their interest in Lawrence Shankland following the striker’s blistering start to the season, while Rangers look set to rival the Hoops, and Neil Lennon should certainly act quickly in order to sign him.

According to the Daily Record, both Celtic and Rangers sent a scout to watch Shankland last weekend, with Tosh McKinlay and Billy McLaren representing the pair respectively.

The striker put on a show with a hat-trick for Dundee United in their 6-0 demolition of Greenock Morton, and McKinlay would have no doubt delivered glowing reports to Neil Lennon on Monday.

Shankland was said to be on both Celtic and Rangers’ respective radar’s last season, according to the report, and the striker has been hugely impressive once again this term.

Though he is unproven in the Premiership, the fact that Shankland has scored for fun in the Scottish League One and is doing so now in the Championship suggests he will have no problem firing them in for Celtic, given the attacking talent that would surround him.

The report also suggests that a number of sides from England and Scotland were eyeing a summer move for him, suggesting interest will be high once again at the end of the season.

Celtic therefore should now act quickly to secure the striker, especially given how the future of Odsonne Edouard appears to be in doubt.
