Daniel Siebert named as referee for Celtic vs Cluj – Why discipline will be crucial for the Hoops

German referee Daniel Siebert has been placed in charge of Celtic’s Europa League group stage tie against CFR Cluj on Thursday, and discipline will be crucial for both sides.
According to 67 Hail Hail, Siebert will officiate what is set to be a fiercely competitive encounter at Parkhead, as Celtic look to register their first win in the Europa League.
The Hoops will also be out for revenge against the Romanian champions, following the infamous Champions League qualifier defeat, and the added motivation for Neil Lennon’s men will need to be channelled correctly.

The report suggests that Siebert has a tendency to brandish his cards, with the German dishing out a minimum of four bookings in his previous seven European fixtures respectively.
And in what was already set to be a fiery encounter with Celtic out for revenge, discipline will be crucial for the Hoops if they are to take a positive result away from Parkhead on Thursday.
Victory over Cluj would cap an excellent start to the Europa League for Lennon’s men, following the 1-1 draw away to Rennes in the opening group stage game.
