Celtic defender Nir Bitton has made his return to action after five weeks on the sidelines.

The Israel international, who can operate as a defensive midfielder and a centre-back, picked up the injury during the 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Rangers in early September.

Bitton was enjoying a spell in the starting lineup and was putting in some impressive performances before suffering the setback.

However, after two matches as an unused substitute for Celtic, Bitton was handed a start for his nation in the 3-1 defeat to Austria.

Is this good news for the Hoops?

Absolutely. Bitton was starting to show his quality before getting injured and he’ll be back pushing for a starting spot at Celtic.

He managed to last the entire 90 minutes without suffering any injury against Austria, which will be good news for manager Neil Lennon.

He’s likely to be involved again on Tuesday against Latvia. Some much-needed minutes under his belt is great for all parties.

Do you think Bitton deserves to be back in Celtic's starting XI against Ross County?
