James Forrest has opened up about Celtic’s Europa League victory over Cluj before hinting that the Hoops will deploy a similar tactic against Lazio; something they must ensure they do.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Forrest revealed how Neil Lennon has emphasised the importance of starting games quickly in the Europa League and that was evident for all to see against Cluj.
The manager highlighted the importance of starting well in games. That can affect everyone so it was great that we started on the front foot against Cluj this time. That meant the crowd got behind us right away and that gave us confidence.
Every team that goes away from home looks to quieten the home crowd with an early goal so as a home team you need to be at it from the kick-off. You can’t afford to ease yourself into the game. We started on the front foot and the fans could see that we were hungry from kick-off. That’s what we want and that’s what the fan like to see.

Forrest’s comments about starting quickly in the Europa League, especially at home, suggest that Celtic will look to do so once again against Lazio in the next group stage game.
And after a strong start to the Europa League campaign, a positive result at home to the Serie A side will put Celtic in an excellent position to progress from the group.
A fast start at Parkhead therefore appears crucial. Not only will it stop Lazio from easing their way into the game and settling into a rhythm, it will keep the atmosphere up inside the stadium and allow Celtic to intimidate their opponents.
