Many Celtic fans have praised Stuart Armstrong for his performance against San Marino on Sunday.

The former Parkhead midfielder scored a sublime curling free-kick for Scotland in their 6-0 stroll past minnows San Marino, with Stuart Findlay, Celtic target Lawrence Shankland and hat-trick hero John McGinn scoring the other goals.

And following his excellent strike, these Celtic supporters have praised the midfielder, with one in particular wishing the Hoops had never sold him to Southampton.

Armstrong’s free-kick was certainly a beauty, albeit the awarding of it was in somewhat confusing circumstances.

Should Celtic have sold Armstrong to Southampton?

The San Marino goalkeeper picked up a pass-back outside of his area and rolled the ball out to one of his teammates, thinking the referee had awarded a foul for a tackle on Shankland on the halfway line.

He hadn’t, however, and instead give Scotland free-kick for handball on the edge of the area; which Armstrong duly converted.
