Hatem Abd Elhamed could be set to miss Celtic’s tie with Ross County this weekend after falling ill whilst on international duty, but his absence means Neil Lennon should give Jeremie Frimpong another chance.

Elhamed is likely to miss Israel’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Latvia on Tuesday after picking up an illness during the international break.

His absence will be a big miss for Isreal, who must beat their opponents at Elhamed’s former stadium in Be’er Sheva to keep their faint hopes of qualification alive.

So could his potential absence for Celtic provide Frimpong with a chance against Ross County?

While it would be a loss for Lennon to not have Elhamed available for this weekend’s clash with Ross County, the Celtic boss does have options in Frimpong and Moritz Bauer.

Should Lennon start Frimpong against Ross County?

Yes

No

And although the latter has impressed thus far following his loan from Stoke City, Lennon should give Frimpong another opportunity to follow up his excellent debut against Partick Thistle with another strong performance.

Supporters will no doubt be keen to watch the former Manchester City defender in action once again following such a bright first appearance for Celtic, and Frimpong deserves the chance to impress once again.
