Christie could play a false nine role says pundit – He makes an interesting point

Michael Stewart believes Ryan Christie has the ability to play as a striker to offer something different up front for Scotland, and he raises an interesting point.
According to HITC, Stewart told BBC Sportsound that he can see Christie playing as a striker for his national side in the future, despite his natural position being an attacking midfielder.
I think he’s capable of playing as a number nine, but not an out-and-out number nine. We’ve got a problem position in the striker, and I think Ryan Christie could do a job up there.
And Stewart does raise an interesting point.

Christie is clearly an incredibly gifted footballer, and Stewart’s point does pose the question as to whether he would be a good option for Celtic as a false nine.
While Odsonne Edouard is clearly the main man up top for the Hoops, using Christie in that role to rest the Frenchman could offer a bit of variety.
Vakoun Bayo is more of a physical threat and requires a slight change in playing style to accommodate him in the side, whereas using Christie as a false nine would allow Celtic to maintain their way of playing whilst also changing the tactics.
