Celtic currently set to outnumber Lazio fans on Thursday
Celtic fans are currently set to outnumber Lazio’s supporters in Thursday’s Europa League clash at the Stadio Olimpico, and that will be a big boost for the Hoops.
According to the Daily Record, Lazio’s marketing director has revealed to Lazio Style Radio that there will currently be more Celtic supporters inside the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday than Lazio fans, though he expects there to be a boost in sales this week.
For the game on Thursday we’ve sold over 14,000 tickets but the majority of that number has gone to Celtic. We expect a growth in sales of those available to Biancocelesti fans.
Thursday will be an important match in terms of qualification, the team will need support for it. The prices are also very reasonable for Thursday’s match, hopefully we can be in the majority at the Stadio Olimpico considering there will be around 9,000 fans from Scotland in the away end.

News of Celtic taking a large travelling support will not come as a surprise to anyone, but the fact that the Hoops are currently set to outnumber Lazio fans in their own stadium does.
Granted the Europa League is not known for drawing large crowds in to support in Italy, with the Record suggesting Lazio have an average league attendance of 37,000 fans last season, compared to 16,000 in this competition.
Are you surprised that Lazio fans are set to be outnumbered on Thursday?
Yes
No
But even so, this is a hugely important game for both Lazio and Celtic’s respective campaign’s in Europe, and you would expect the home supporters to have been desperate to watch.
Their side have been on a good run in the league following last month’s defeat to Celtic, winning all three of their Serie A matches since, so this news certainly comes as a surprise given their form and the importance of the fixture.
