Bundesliga outfit Mainz are reportedly interested in a move for Celtic target Vasilios Barkas, and the Hoops must react quickly to the news.
The AEK Athens goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Parkhead in recent weeks, as Celtic consider potential long-term replacements for Fraser Forster.
However, according to Sport Witness, Greek website Sdna.gr have reported that Mainz are now interested in the 25-year-old and have made contact with “intermediaries” about negotiating a deal for the shot-stopper.

Up until now, Celtic had appeared to be the only side interested in a move for Barkas, and Nick Hammond was reportedly given the green light to complete a move for the 25-year-old.
However news of Mainz making contact with the ‘keeper will come as a wake up call for Celtic.
And although one would imagine the Hoops still remain strong favourites to sign him, with Barkas having the chance to compete in Europe and for domestic trophies at Celtic, Hammond must react quickly to secure a deal before the Greece international attracts anymore attention.
