Being gracious in defeat is something that does not appear to come easily to the manager’s of Celtic’s Group E rivals in the Europa League.
First it was Dan Petrescu, who bizarrely blamed the rain for CFR Cluj’s 2-0 defeat at Parkhead, and now Simone Inzaghi has had his say.
According to the Daily Mail, the Lazio boss has blasted the referee at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night for being “against” his side following the famous 2-1 win for Celtic.
We hit the post, their goalkeeper saved a lot and we also had the referee against us because at 1-1 there was a clear penalty for us that wasn’t given to us so it could have changed the game.

Both Inzaghi and Petrescu can blame other factors for the respective defeats, but ultimately the referee wasn’t to blame for the poor pass which resulted in Olivier Ntcham’s sublime finish.
Celtic came out on top in both games against Lazio, Cluj at Parkhead and have qualified for the knockout stages with two group games to spare.
The Hoops will now set their sights on keeping an unbeaten run going in the competition and topping the group heading into the last 32.
