A report has revealed how Gillingham manager Steve Evans was hugely impressed with the current Celtic target Joe Walsh when he took charge of the League One side in May earlier this year.
According to HITC, Evans revealed to Kent Online how he was impressed by Walsh’s “quality” after taking over at Priestfield last summer, and suggested at the time that he’d struggle to find a better goalkeeper than the teenager.
The big plus is Walsh. I didn’t expect (him) to have that quality. I have got the go-ahead from our chairman to sign another goalkeeper but I am thinking, ‘where do I go and sign better than Joe Walsh?’

Though Walsh has made just two appearances for Gillingham in the EFL Trophy this season, the 17-year-old is attracting a lot of attention.
Walsh would join the growing list of exciting young players at Celtic’s disposal should he make a move to Parkhead, though the Hoops appear as though they’ll have some serious competition.
Celtic, Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton have all registered an interest in the 6tf 4in shot-stopper, while Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig also have the teenager on their radar.
