Mohamed Elyounoussi has handed Celtic a huge boost ahead of next month’s League Cup final after backing himself to return to full fitness for the tie.
Concerns over whether the winger would be fit for the Glasgow Derby at Hampden against Rangers had been growing after he reportedly picked up a foot injury during the international break.
However according to the Daily Record, Elyounoussi revealed the problem was sustained prior to the break but he believes he will be back fit for the final next month.
I actually picked up the injury a couple of weeks ago against Hibs in the League Cup semi-final. Then I had to go with the national team and it didn’t really have enough time to heal. So we had a look at it and it was decided I needed a rest. But I think it will be all right.

Elyounoussi declaring himself fit for the League Cup final is certainly a huge boost given the excellent form he has been in this season.
The winger has scored seven and assisted six in his 12 appearances in all competitions, including a brace in the semi-final against Hibs.
Celtic have also reportedly made contact with Southampton over a permanent move for the winger, with the Premier League side setting a surprising asking price of £8m-£10million for the Norway international.
