Neil Lennon has hailed Lewis Morgan as a “specimen” and hopes the 23-year-old can kick on after his positive display against Rennes.
Morgan flourished in an unfamiliar position on Thursday, scoring the opening goal in the 3-1 win as Lennon opted to start him in a false nine role in the absence of Odsonne Edouard.
And according to The Boot Room, Lennon praised Morgan’s performance when speaking to BT Sport 3 after the game, describing the 23-year-old as a ‘physical specimen.’
Lewis Morgan comes in and does a fantastic job tonight for us. We knew he was capable of that, scored a great goal and set the tempo for the rest of the team. He can be delighted with his performance.

He just has to believe in himself a little bit more because we believe in him. Physically he’s a specimen, he’s a great athlete, he’s got good pace and good with both feet. He’s come up trumps tonight and I hope that gives him the real shot in the arm that he deserves.

Morgan certainly had one of his best games in a Celtic shirt against Rennes, as he adjusted to the false nine position with aplomb.
The 23-year-old will now be hoping he gets the chance to impress once again this weekend against Ross County, and begin to put a run of solid, consistent performances together.
