Former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has hailed Ryan Christie’s assist for Christopher Jullien’s winning goal as David Beckham-esque.

Christie whipped in a sumptuous free-kick to assist Jullien, who finished with aplomb in the 1-0 win over Rangers.

And according to The Boot Room, Strachan told BT Sports that Christie deserves a lot of credit for his delivery.

This is the bit that becomes hard, taking the free-kick because we’ve seen in the last half hour when people have got into positions where they cross the ball, Rangers overhit it.

The whole world’s watching this boy. ‘Can I deliver a great ball? Yes I can’. The top players, that’s a Beckham sort of thing where right at the moment where you need a great delivery, he sticks a great delivery in.

Christie’s delivery was superb and the Scotland international put the ball on a plate for Jullien, with his 11th assist in all competitions this season.

The 24-year-old’s contribution has been overlooked somewhat by the heroics of Fraser Forster and Jullien’s winner, but his assist continues to emphasise how much of an important player he is for the club.
