Multiple English clubs have reportedly been “alerted” to Ryan Mullen’s availability after the 18-year-old rejected a new contract with Celtic.

The goalkeeper’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and the Hoops are keen to tie him down to a long-term contract given how he is highly regarded at Parkhead.

However according to Football Insider, “a Celtic source” has revealed that Mullen rejected a contract extension offer and now looks set to be available for a low fee in January or a free transfer next summer.

The report also claims that “a number of English clubs” are now monitoring the teenager amid uncertainty surrounding his Celtic future.

Do you think Celtic should sign a young goalkeeper in January?

Mullen’s refusal to extend his deal with the club will no doubt come as a blow, with the shot-stopper regarded as a hugely promising talent within Celtic’s youth setup.

However given how the Hoops have already scouted Gillingham goalkeeper Joe Walsh this season, the club were perhaps expecting Mullen to pursue a move away and have therefore lined up the18-year-old as his replacement.
