Gordon Strachan believes Alfredo Morelos is the key to Rangers’ title challenge as he opens up about January plans for the two Glasgow rivals.
The former Celtic boss believes the Hoops are still favourites to lift the Scottish Premiership this season as they will strengthen in January.
And according to the Express, Strachan suggested the only way Rangers will be able to maintain their title push is by keeping Morelos in the winter window.
Recruitment, for both Glasgow teams, is going to be big in January. I expect Celtic to sign players, and that’s why I’d have them as favourites for the title still, as they know they need to strengthen. For Rangers, it’s the other way, they cannot, must not, sell Alfredo Morelos. At any cost.
He’s the most important player for them, who can take them to the league title. They need to keep him at the club, and keep him fit. If they do, they’ll have a real chance.

While his record against Celtic is woeful, it’s hard to disagree with Strachan’s suggestion that Morelos is Rangers’ key man.
The Colombian has scored 25 goals in all competitions this season, and Steven Gerrard’s side would definitely be worse off if they lost him in January.
