Lennon provides injury update on Christie

Neil Lennon says he hopes to have Ryan Christie available for Celtic’s trip to Hearts on Wednesday night.

The Hoops eased to a 2-0 win over Hibernian on Sunday afternoon, thanks to goals from Jeremie Frimpong and Odsonne Edouard.

It leaves the champions two points clear of rivals Rangers at the top of the table, as they look to retain their Scottish Premiership crown this season.

Having not faced CFR Cluj in midweek, Christie was also absent from the victory against Hibs.

Speaking to Radio Scotland after the game, Lennon provided an update on the midfielder’s potential availability against Hearts in midweek:

We’re hoping Ryan will be available and we’ll assess Jonny (Hayes), he’s still a bit sore in his shoulder.

Moi (Elyounoussi) won’t be available, it is the same stress reaction in the foot, he needs complete rest.

Christie has become an integral performer for the Hoops in recent times, scoring 16 goals in 28 appearances so far this season.

The 24-year-old is an undoubted loss to Lennon’s side, despite another win being recorded on Sunday.

The sooner he is back the better, bringing quality and end product to the middle of the park.
