Contrasting reports this week have suggested Celtic have and haven’t made an approach for Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar, but according to the club’s chief Ivan Kmotrick, the Hoops have made contact.
Neil Lennon was quick to deny the rumours suggesting he was interested in the striker, following the victory over Hibernian last weekend.
However according to the Daily Record, Slovan’s chief Kmotrick revealed Celtic have made an approach in the region of €5.5m, but the club value the striker in €7m-€8m.
It is true that Celtic has sent us a specific offer and has shown an enormous interest in Andraz Sporar. Other strong clubs from countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Belgium have also heard from us.

The interest is great and we expect it to be even more pronounced during the transition period. I think its price is much higher (than €5.5m). I cannot imagine selling Andraz for less than €7m-€8million.

It’s difficult to tell whether Celtic have indeed made contact with regards to a move for Sporar, or whether Kmotrick is just attempting to drum up more interest in his star man ahead of the January window.
Two things do appear clear, though. Firstly, it is clearly going to take a big offer in the region of €7m-€8m to prize Sporar away from Slovan.
Furthermore, the 25-year-old has scored 20 goals in just 26 appearances so far this season, including five in six Europa League outings and he would clearly be a big asset for the Hoops.
A player of his calibre is just who Celtic should be targeting in January.
