Hertha Berlin are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka in a deal that could be a boost for Celtic’s pursuit of Victor Wanyama.
Reports had emerged earlier this week claiming the Bundesliga outfit were in ‘pole position’ to sign Wanyama in January as they look to strengthen their midfield options.
However according to the Telegraph, Hertha are also considering a move for Xhaka with the midfielder set to leave Arsenal in January despite Mikel Arteta’s recent appointment.

Hertha’s interest in Xhaka could bolster Celtic’s chances of re-signing Wanyama on loan in January given how the Bundesliga club are unlikely to be able to afford a move for both players.
Wanyama has featured sporadically this season and would certainly strengthen Neil Lennon’s midfield options, though it is hard to see how he would fit in on a regular basis at Celtic as well.
Callum McGregor and Scott Brown have an excellent partnership in midfield, and dropping either for Big Vic would be a huge call for Lennon to make.
Will he want to return to Parkhead to only play in a rotational role? Only time will tell.
