Andraz Sporar has reportedly stated his desire to join Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon instead of Celtic this month.

The pair have both been linked with a move for the Slovenia international, with Bristol City also in the running.

However according to A Bola, relayed in an article by Sports Witness, Sporar has informed his representatives that he would rather join Sporting than Celtic in January.

Neil Lennon has already confirmed that Celtic have been in talks with Slovan Bratislava over a potential move for Sporar, while he has also been described as the Celtic boss’ top target.

Hearing of the 25-year-old’s desire to join Sporting rather than Celtic will therefore come as a significant blow for the Hoops in our view.

The Hoops have made a ‘concrete approach’ for Tino Kadewere however, so they do have alternative targets.

But for us, Sporar was the man Celtic should have gone all out for this month. Slovan are open to selling 25-year-old and have already signed a replacement for him.

Furthermore, the striker has been in red hot form this season, scoring 20 goals in just 26 appearances for the Slovakian side, including five in the Europa League, which we think is likely to have appealed to Celtic given their involvement in the last 32.

And we believe having someone of his calibre in the squad alongside Odsonne Edouard would have given Lennon significant firepower in the hunt for domestic and European success.

Do you think Celtic should still make an offer for Sporar?
