Celtic look set to step up their pursuit of Tyrese Campbell this month, with the Hoops revealing they are intending to hold pre-contract talks with the striker.
Campbell is out of contract with Stoke City in the summer and according to the Stoke Sentinel via the Daily Record, the 20-year-old is therefore available for a compensation fee of £400,000.
The report continues to reveal how both Celtic and Rangers are looking to take advantage of that ‘cross border compensation fee’ this month by holding pre-contract talks with Campbell.
Celtic and Rangaers have both informed Stoke City of their intention to hold pre-contract talks with Tyrese Campbell. The Glasgow giants have been in contact with the Championship side to tell them that they plan to talk to their England under-20 striker.

In our opinion, a pre-contract move for Campbell makes perfect sense for Celtic, as it could prove to be an incredibly profitable and successful deal.
Most young strikers who have first-team experience and are scoring goals in a division like the English Championship will cost an arm and a leg in today’s market.
Looking at the likes of 22-year-old Karlan Grant for example, who has scored 12 goals so far in the Championship this season.
He is said to be valued around a remarkable £28m just one year after signing for Huddersfield for £2m for Charlton.
While Campbell has not scored as consistently as Grant, he is still just 20-years-old and is starting to find his form of late with three goals in his last three.

Furthermore, Jeremie Frimpong has flourished under Neil Lennon this season after arriving in a similar compensation deal from Manchester City, and having not made a senior appearance.
Campbell has already amassed close to 50 first-team appearances, meaning he will have already developed a lot as a player despite his age.
And Frimpong has since been tipped by captain Scott Brown to be Celtic’s next £25m departure following his successful campaign thus far, after Kieran Tierney departed for Arsenal for that figure last summer.
Therefore if a potential move doesn’t pay off, then Celtic should be able to recoup the £400,000 fee, but if it does work out for Campbell, then we feel as though the Hoops could net a significant profit.
