AC Milan linked with move for Ajer

AC Milan appear to have reignited their interest in signing Kristoffer Ajer this month.

The 21-year-old was reportedly a target for the Serie A giants last summer, with the Daily Record claiming he was on their transfer “wishlist,” though a move failed to materialise.

However according to BBC Sport, who cite the Scotsman, AC Milan are said to be interested once again alongside Leicester City, though Ajer has revealed he is “content” at Celtic.

Despite Ajer being on Milan’s radar at the start of the season, it’s surprising to see them reignite their interest in the defender in our opinion.

The Serie A side are currently struggling somewhat in Serie A, languishing in mid-table, but their main problem appears to be scoring goals, not conceding them.

Milan have the sixth-best defensive record in the division having conceded 24 goals in 19 league outings thus far.

At the other end of the pitch however, only three sides have scored fewer goals than Milan in Italy’s top flight so far this season, and their lack of proficiency in front of goal is what is costing them dearly.

Signing Ajer therefore makes no sense for Milan in our view, as surely they should be prioritising a move for a striker this month.
