Neil Lennon has revealed Leigh Griffiths is “hungry” to compete for his place in the team amid speculation about his future.
Earlier this month, Barry Ferguson told PLZ Soccer that he believes Griffiths should pursue a move away following Patryk Klimala’s arrival at the club.
He needs to go and play. It’s as simple as that. I don’t think he’s going to do that at Celtic.
If Edouard’s fit and available, he’s going to be number one and obviously they’ve signed this boy coming in for a lot of money as well.
So for me I think the best solution for Celtic would be to loan him out for the last three/four months of the season.
Go and let him get a certain amount of games and see if he can start banging goals in and then bring him back and make a decision over the summer.
However according to the Daily Record, Lennon believes Griffiths is ready to fight for his place in the side despite Celtic bringing in another striker.
We have Odsonne in and Griff and Griff is looking good. We will see how things go over the next few weeks. I can’t comment on speculation surrounding any player really.
There has been a lot in the last few months about Griff. But he is hungry and he wants to play and he has made that pretty clear to me.

Lennon confirming Griff’s happiness at the club and willingness to fight for his spot is hugely positive in our view, and it should end all the speculation about his Hoops future.
While it would have been easy for the 29-year-old to push for a loan move away this month after the signing of Klimala, Griffiths certainly appears to be up for the challenge of fighting for his place at Celtic.
The questions about his future are understandable given how Klimala’s arrival could push him further down the pecking order, but we believe competition for places is always healthy.
And Griffiths could also feel the same way, given how the Daily Record claimed the striker looked in “good spirits” in training on Friday.
