Bnei Yehuda president Barak Obramov’s hopes of receiving a higher fee from Celtic for Ismaila Soro were scuppered when the midfielder ‘pleaded’ with him to sanction a move to Parkhead.

According to the Daily Record, Obramov wanted to “squeeze” Celtic for more money in the Hoops’ pursuit of Soro given how the midfielder’s former club are owed 50 per cent of the transfer fee.

However the report continues to suggest Soro “made a personal plea” to the Bnei Yehuda president to allow him to join Celtic, and Obramov subsequently agreed on a £2million fee.

While the deal for Soro is yet to be finalised, the midfielder pushing Obramov to settle on a fee and allow his potential move to Celtic to happen is hugely positive in our opinion, as it emphasises his desire to come and play for the club.

Furthermore, it also benefits the club financially as the Hoops are paying just £2m for his services, meaning Celtic’s January spending is around £5.5m for two young players who could seriously increase in value if they succeed at the club, after Patryk Klimala’s arrival.

We’ve seen many a player sold for a profit over the years at Celtic, with the latest being Lewis Morgan who will net the Hoops a small but tidy profit of around £100,000 if his move to Inter Miami goes through.

Do you think Celtic will complete the signing of Soro?

Yes

No

And if we can complete the deal for Soro, snapping him and Klimala up for such a low combined total represents excellent business.

Neil Lennon has confirmed a deal has been agreed with Bnei Yehuda, and he is hoping to have the move confirmed in “the next few days,” BBC Sport report.
