Neil Lennon is reportedly open to loaning Jonathan Afolabi out this month, as transfer interest in him increases.

According to Football Insider, “multiple” English clubs from League One and League Two are interested in signing the forward on loan until the end of the season.

The report also claims Lennon is “willing to listen to loan offers” for Afolabi, who is said to be “keen” on testing himself with a short term move until the end of the season.

READ CELTIC VERDICT

A loan for Afolabi would be an excellent move for him in my opinion.

Given how he hadn’t made his debut prior to Patryk Klimala’s arrival this month, the 20-year-old now appears to have next to no chance of breaking into the first-team this season.

This is emphasised by the fact that he wasn’t included in the squad for Celtic’s win over Championship strugglers Partick Thistle on Saturday.

Do you think Afolabi would benefit from a loan move?

Yes

No

However Afolabi also appears to be too good to be playing for the Reserves until the end of the campaign, with Football Insider stating how “the youngster has been making a big impression” at that level.

Therefore allowing him to leave and join a club in League One or Two in England would give him some vital first-team experience and allow him to prove himself to Lennon ahead of next season.
