Celtic manager Neil Lennon has provided an update on defenders Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton.

The boss confirmed that centre-back Bitton would is only expected to miss a few weeks of action after having a scan on his injury, whilst Elhamed’s problem isn’t as bad as first feared.

Bitton was forced off the pitch during Celtic’s 2-1 Scottish Cup victory over Partick Thistle last Saturday with a hamstring strain but should be ready to return in a few weeks.

However, Lennon has not put a timescale on Elhamed’s return to action.

The injuries couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Hoops as the second half of the campaign gets underway.

ElHamed and Bitton are both important players in the squad, which is shown by their regular appearances for the club, but we feel that the return of Kristoffer Ajer is a massive boost, especially because of the recent injury to Bitton.

So, there’s reason to remain positive for the Hoops because the players could have been ruled out for a much longer period of time, so we feel that the club has had a slice of luck with the injuries not being as severe as first feared.
