Celtic have reportedly “expressed an interest” in signing Iran international Mehrdad Mohammadi this month.

The 26-year-old only made the move to Portuguese side Deportivo Aves last summer, but his form this season appears to have caught Celtic’s attention.

That’s according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, as cited by Inside Futbol, who claim Mohammadi is a player Celtic are interested in signing in January, with the report suggesting the Hoops could table an “official proposal” for the winger.

Interest in Mohammadi has seemingly come out of nowhere, given how this is the first we’ve heard of the rumours.

However the Iranian has impressed this season and with seven goals and seven assists in 17 appearances this competition, and it’s clear to see why Celtic are interested based on this.

Furthermore, given how Lewis Morgan appears to be on his way out of the club while Scott Sinclair has already departed, it comes as no surprise to see Celtic interested in signing a winger.

However Hibernian wide-man Martin Boyle has also been linked with a move to Parkhead this month.

And given how he is a proven player in the Scottish Premiership, he would be my choice out of the two, as Mohammadi could be a risky signing given how he is unproven in the league.

Who would you rather Celtic sign?
