Jack Ross has revealed his desire to keep hold of Martin Boyle this month amid interest from Celtic.
According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Boyle has emerged as a target for the Hoops after head of football operations Nicky Hammond scouted the winger during Hibs’ 2-1 win over Hamilton.
And while Ross is pleased Boyle’s form is attracting transfer attention as it emphasises how well he is playing for Hibs, the former Sunderland boss does not want to lose him.
I’ve said before he’s a better player than some people have given him credit for. He’s got a lot more than pace – his intelligence is really good and he contributed towards the two goals. At the second one he stood it up rather than flashed it across but it shows he’s a player in a good place.
He’s the last person I’d like to lose from this club. I’ve had it with players before – they’re players who get results and you enjoy watching them then people take them off you. But I’m not bothered with others watching him because it means he’s playing well for me.

Ross’ comments are hardly surprising, given how Boyle is one of his most important players at the moment.
The winger inspired his side to come from 1-0 down to beat Hamilton Accies on Wednesday with two assists for both of Hibs’ goals, and Ross’ reluctance to lose him is understandable therefore.
As is Celtic’s interest, given how he has six goals and six assists to his name from just 17 league appearances so far this season.
However with the likes of Marian Shved, Karamoko Dembele and Daniel Arzani amongst Neil Lennon’s options outside the first-team, we’d like to see some of them given a chance ahead of the likes of Boyle.
