Celtic scout £9m-rated Ivan Toney
Celtic’s scouts appear to be popping up all over the United Kingdom as we enter the final stages of the January transfer window.
Firstly Tosh McKinlay was spotted at Tannadice last weekend, reportedly keeping tabs on the likes of Lawrence Shankland and Martin Boyle as the pair impressed in a 2-2 draw between Dundee United and Hibernian.
Boyle was then tracked by Celtic once again in midweek, with head of football operations Nicky Hammond watching on as the winger inspired his side to a 2-1 win over Hamilton Accies with two assists.
And now Bristol Live have reported that a Celtic scout was in attendance to watch Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney on Tuesday, as the striker scored twice in Posh’s 4-0 drubbing over Wycombe Wanderers.
Toney is said to be the subject of interest from a number of Premier League and Championship sides, including Bristol City and Brentford.

Celtic’s apparent interest in Toney is very surprising, giving how the Hoops have already signed Patryk Klimala this month.
Furthermore, according to HITC, the striker is reportedly valued in the region of £9million; a fee that would match Celtic’s club record following Odsonne Edouard’s move.
The striker has been in prolific form this season however, scoring 17 goals in 26 league appearances thus far, and it’s easy to see why he is attracting so much attention.
Do you think Celtic should make a move for Toney?
Yes, he'd be a great signing
No, we don't need anymore strikers
However Leigh Griffiths has returned from the winter break in fine form with two goals in his last two outings, Eddy also netted against Kilmarnock, while the likes of Klimala and Vakoun Bayo wait in the wings, suggesting the club are well stocked for strikers.
Celtic should not pursue a move for Toney therefore, as his price will be incredibly high given his form and the amount of interest in him, and the Hoops do not need to spend that much on another striker this month.
