Charlie Nicholas believes Celtic are paying over half of Fraser Forster’s weekly wages throughout his loan spell with the club this season.

According to the Daily Record, the former Hoops man claims Celtic are paying around £40,000-a-week of Forster’s wages, which is supposedly over half of his weekly earnings with the Premier League side.

They are paying near to £40,000 a week to Southampton for Fraser Forster, I’m led to believe, and there is no commitment to do a transfer at the end of it.

The Scotsman have claimed the shot-stopper to be earning around £70,000-a-week with Southampton.

It would be a surprise if Celtic are indeed paying such a high chunk of Forster’s wages, given the current structure at the club. The Hoops’ current highest earners are the likes of Scott Brown, Christopher Jullien and James Forrest, with the latter said to be on a wage of around £25,000-a-week, according to Football Insider.

Would you be surprised if Celtic were paying £40k-a-week for Forster?

Yes

No

Forster therefore would be earning £15,000 more than Jamesy, despite only being on loan at the club, which would be surprising.

However, if that is the case, it would be fully justified given the form he has shown this season, following heroic displays against Lazio and in the League Cup final respectively.
