Opposition Dangerman: FC Copenhagen (A)

After two months, European football is finally back as Celtic travel to face Copenhagen on Thursday evening.

Neil Lennon’s side couldn’t be coming into the match in better form as they’ve won all nine of their matches since returning from the winter break.

The most recent of those victories was a tough 2-1 win against Aberdeen in far from ideal conditions.

Callum McGregor and Kris Ajer grabbed the goals for the Hoops as they consolidated their 10 point lead at the top of the Premiership.

But now attention turns to the much anticipated Europa League knockout phase and a trip to face a turbulent Copenhagen side.

The Danish outfit stumbled at the weekend against relegation battlers, Esbjerg, as they made their return from their two month, mid-season winter break.

This is obviously a major boost for Lennon’s side, but Copenhagen still have qualities in abundance in their side.

Many fans will recognise Senegalese striker Dame N’Doye who had stints at Sunderland and Hull City.

He’s clearly their biggest threat in front of goal, but he had a forgettable run out at the weekend, missing a clear cut chance at the beginning of the game and for that reason, we’ve gone for Copenhagen’s captain as our opposition dangerman.

ZECA

Similar to his counterpart, Scott Brown, Zeca is at the beating heart of the Danish side.

The 31-year-old Greece international may not be troubling Fraser Forster too much, but he’s the dictator of play and will need to be stopped.

It will be an interesting match up with Brown, they play almost identical roles in their sides. He’s strong and powerful and protects his defence well.

For Celtic, we feel it’s vital that they keep Zeca quiet, limit his impact and don’t allow him to be a commander of the game.

Do that, and the Bhoys could be in for another memorable performance in Europe.
