Josh Murphy’s recent upturn in form has seen the reported Cetlic target become Cardiff City’s most valuable player.

According to Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old’s market value is £9million, almost double the price of the next Bluebirds’ player on the list, Neil Etheridge.

Celtic made a deadline day loan move for the winger last month but saw their approach rebuffed by Cardiff (Football Insider).

However, earlier in February, Football Insider also claimed that Celtic are looking to make a permanent move for Murphy at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has been in excellent form of late, scoring five goals in his last six outings in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Furthermore, Kevin Phillips believes the winger could emulate Scott Sinclair’s success at the club should he complete a move in the summer (Football Insider).

However, £9m would represent a large outlay for Celtic given how that fee would match their transfer record, as they paid the same amout when they signed Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain (Sky Sports).

With Mohamed Elyounoussi reportedly available for a similar fee (Football Insider), I feel as though he represents a better option than Murphy.

Who do you think the better signing would be?

Elyounoussi

Murphy

Elyounoussi has scored one more goal and created four more assists than the Cardiff winger in nine fewer appearances this season.

Furthermore, having spent this season on loan with Celtic, Elyounoussi has already adjusted to life at the club and is likely to be familiar with Neil Lennon’s style of play.
