Neil Lennon’s response to Thursday’s defeat to FC Copenhagen is exactly what you want to see from a manager.

Despite a number of individual errors costing Celtic on the night, Lennon refused to name any names or single out any of his players in his post match interview, according to Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard.

Lennon has conducted himself in the perfect manner here.

Although he was probably incredibly disappointed by what he saw from his players during the 3-1 defeat to Copenhagen, publicly criticising individual performances could well have had an even more negative impact on morale.

He could have quite easily singled out the likes of Jozo Simunovic for the error which led to Copenhagen’s first goal, or Kristoffer Ajer for his poor positioning for the second.

However he decided to take the defeat on the chin and emphasise how Celtic is a club where everybody wins as a team and loses as a team.

Are you pleased Lennon didn't publicly criticise anyone following the defeat?

Yes

No

And that is an excellent way to deal with such a defeat, as it allows Lennon to keep what he really had to say to his players confined to the dressing room.

Celtic have to regroup now and brush the loss aside to focus on their push for a fourth consecutive domestic treble, with a quarter-final tie against St Johnstone coming up this weekend.
