Nir Bitton has revealed how Celtic were made aware of the Rangers score during Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Livingston, and that moment could well have inspired the Hoops to keep fighting for a point.
According to the Daily Record, Bitton put two and two together when he heard the Celtic fans at the Tony Macaroni Arena start cheering despite the Hoops being 2-1 down against Livi at that stage in the game.
I don’t know about other guys but I heard our fans roaring during the game, when we were 2-1, so I was I like, ‘what’s going on here?’ Then I realised Rangers were playing at the same time so I thought something happened there.

Moments like this show just how important supporters can be, as their cheers could well have inspired Celtic to step up their efforts against Livingston.
Of course at 2-1 down in the second half, the Hoops would have been pushing for an equaliser regardless of what was happening at Ibrox, given how they wouldn’t have wanted to suffer a third league defeat of the season.
But even so, hearing the fans celebrate a goal for Hamilton as Bitton revealed he did, may have given Celtic the extra boost they needed to keep fighting until the end.
If that was the added push that helped the Hoops snatch a draw against Livi in stoppage time then it helped to play a big role in extending Celtic’s lead at the top.
And if Celtic can beat St Mirren at home on Saturday, then they’ll have piled even more pressure onto Rangers by increasing the gap to 16 points ahead of their trip to Ross County on Sunday.
