Celtic to demand €40m for Ajer amid AC Milan interest
Celtic will reportedly look to demand a fee in the region of €40 million for Kristoffer Ajer this summer, and that would be an excellent piece of business.
According to Calciomercato, the Hoops have set an asking price in that region for Ajer after AC Milan reignited their interest in the defender following comments made by his agent, Tore Pedersen.
Pedersen stated last week that Ajer would be leaving Celtic this summer and he did not want to extend his contract with the club (Daily Record).

€40m, which works out to roughly £36m, would be a deal that would smash the club’s current transfer record for a fee received for a player, following Kieran Tierney’s £25m to Arsenal last summer (BBC Sport).
And if Celtic can hold out for that much, it would be a real statement from the club that they will not allow their key players to be sold for a small sum.
Furthermore, it would also continue the trend of Celtic demanding a record fee for their most talented players, with Tierney’s move eclipsing the £19.7m Lyon paid the club for Moussa Dembele in 2018 (BBC Sport).
Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Ajer since his comments (TEAMtalk), meaning interest from both clubs could bolster Celtic’s chances of receiving a high fee for the 21-year-old, if the pair become embroiled in a bidding war.
Do you think Ajer is worth €40million?
Yes
No
And a fee in the region of €40m would give the club huge financial muscle in the transfer market with regards to finding a replacement for Ajer, as well as bolstering other areas of the squad.
