Celtic are keeping a close eye on St Mirren goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky, the man who is reportedly close to joining Rangers.

Rangers have decided to let both Jak Alnwick and Wes Foderingham leave their club, meaning they are in the market for another ‘keeper to back up Allan McGregor and The Sunday Post claim that they’ll make a move for Hladky this week.

However, the Post go on to say that Celtic, who could also be in the market for a goalkeeper, are also keeping tabs on the 29-year-old Czech star.

As things currently stand, Fraser Forster will soon return to Southampton and Craig Gordon will be a free agent at the end of June, so it makes sense for Celtic to be monitoring goalkeepers, as they would only have Scott Bain in their books as a senior option if Forster and Gordon depart.

Would Vaclav Hladky be a good option for Celtic?

Hladky had a very good season for St. Mirren, keeping ten clean sheets in 30 games and with his contract set to expire, he could be a useful addition to either Glasgow club.

However, Celtic’s priority should be to keep Forster and if they have to negotiate win Southampton, then they could end up missing out on Hladky, with Rangers apparently keen to get a deal done.
