Southampton are willing to double Olivier Ntcham’s weekly salary if he makes a move from Celtic Park to St Mary’s, according to a report from Football Insider.

Celtic’s top earners are currently paid around £35,000-a-week and Ntcham apparently earns slightly less than that top bracket of players, but he could soon eclipse that figure if he moves to the South Coast of England.

The initial reports linking Ntcham to Southampton said Saints valued him at £4.5m but Celtic apparently won’t even consider selling him for anything less than £12m.

With Celtic interested in Fraser Forster, it looks like a player-plus-cash deal could all be on the cards, although it remains to be seen at what price Saints value the big goalkeeper.

If Celtic can get Ntcham off the wage bill, should Neil Lennon decide that he’s happy to let him leave, then that could free up salary room for Forster, although he may need to take a significant pay cut in order to make a move back to the Hoops.
