Celtic are one of the clubs interested in signing Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor, according to Talksport’s Jim White.

The 30-year-old striker has gained some negative press in the last few days as he’s refused to play any more games for Charlton this season.

Taylor is soon to be a free agent and as such, he has his eyes firmly set on a move this summer and as such, he is refusing to play for the Addicks in case he picks up an injury during what’s set to be an intense and packed schedule.

According to White, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are also interested in Taylor, as well as the Hoops.

Signing a goal scorer like Taylor on a free transfer could be smart business for some clubs, but it probably doesn’t make sense for Celtic at this time.

It seems clear that the player is after a big payday (who can blame him?) but it probably shouldn’t be Celtic who give it to him.

Should Celtic sign Lyle Taylor?

Yes

No

Celtic have clear needs in the squad that need addressing, such as goalkeeper and centre-back, whilst they have two very good strikers in Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths, and as such, those are the areas where they should be looking to spend transfer fees and wages.

Taylor will likely be looking to join a club where he’d play every week and unless the Hoops cash in on Edouard, Celtic would not be able to offer him that luxury.
