Rangers and West Brom are the two teams leading the race to sign Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney, according to a report from Football Insider.
Celtic have also been linked with a move for the striker, but it looks like local-rivals Rangers and promotion-chasing Albion are the two teams who are competing most actively for his signature.
After the League One season was ended on a points-per-game basis, Peterborough narrowly missed out on a place in the playoffs and as such, they’re now looking to sell Toney.
Last summer, they promised the player that he could leave if they didn’t earn promotion and they intend to stick to their word.
Celtic had been reportedly looking at the forward but it appears that they aren’t interested in making a move for him this summer.

Hopefully, the news that Celtic aren’t really in the race for Toney means that the club are confident of keeping Odsonne Edouard as the Peterborough man was likely being targeted as an option in case the Frenchman left Celtic Park.
There’s no denying that the forward is a good player, so from a Celtic point of view, we’d rather him go to West Ham instead of the team down the road but we’ll see how that pans out.
For Celtic, it looks like there are other areas of the squad that are being targeted ahead of a striker, so we’re pretty sure that Toney won’t be playing in green and white next year.
