Celtic have announced that 16-year-old Ben Summers has signed a three-year contract at the Hoops, one that will keep him at the club until 2023.
Summers only turned 16 today and the Hoops have given him an amazing birthday gift by tying him down with his first professional contract.
Even Celtic fans who don’t watch the club’s academy prospects often could recognise Summers’ face as he was the youngster who played the role of a young Tommy Burns in the film-length documentary that was made about the life of the Celtic legend.

At a time where the Hoops have been releasing senior players, the club’s decision to keep Summers, even during a global pandemic, shows that he must be highly thought of by those at the Scottish champions.
Aged 16, he’s probably still a few years away from breaking into the first-team, but time is now on his side as he has at least three years to prove that he can develop into a player who is good enough to play for Celtic.
