Liam Burt will leave Celtic when his contract with the club expires at the end of this month, as per a report from The Glasgow Times.
There has been some confusion regarding the 21-year-old’s future in recent weeks, partly due to his social media activity, but it looks like he will not be offered a contract extension and as such, he will be free to find a new club.
The Glasgow Times report that Burt is well thought of by the Celtic coaching staff but such is the level of depth that the Hoops have in his position, the consensus is that he won’t get enough game time to justify keeping him at the club.
The Times also report that the player has English Championship clubs interested in taking him on a free transfer, although those clubs have not been named.

Burt’s career path so far has been an odd one, going from Celtic to Rangers and back to Celtic again, but it looks like his time in Scotland could be coming to an end.
Burt’s departure makes sense for all parties concerned, even though he is well thought of at Celtic.
Spending wages on a 21-year-old player who isn’t near the first-team makes little sense for Celtic, especially given the current state of finances in football, whilst a move away for Burt could see him get the game thime he probably deserves.
