Celtic’s search for a new coach to replace the outgoing Damien Duff looks to be over as Peterborough United assistant manager Gavin Strachan is set to officially be announced as the newest member of Neil Lennon’s backroom staff.
Duff decided to leave Celtic last month in order to return to Ireland for personal reasons, thus leaving a vacancy, one that looks set to be filled by Strachan.
Peterborough chairman Barry Fry told The Glasgow Times that he was reluctant to lose Strachan but revealed that there is a deal in place for the son of former Hoops’ boss Gordon to move to Celtic.
He said:
I have agreed a deal with Celtic’s lawyer and Gavin Strachan has also agreed a deal with the club. We don’t want to lose him, but we cannot stand in the way of such a big job. The deal should be completed on Monday.

We’ll likely never knew the true impact that Duff had on Celtic’s players given that most of his work was done behind closed doors.
However, what we do know is that a replacement was needed and Strachan looks to be the man coming in.
Celtic have done well to get a deal sorted so quickly as the current Posh assistant can get into his new role ASAP as the Hoops look to prepare for a season where they’ll be battling to win a tenth-straight league title.
