Celtic’s Josh Adam agrees to join Manchester City

Celtic youngster Josh Adam has agreed to join Manchester City on a scholarship with the promise that he will he offered a professional deal when he turns 17.

As reported by Sam Wallace of The Telegraph, Adam was a target for numerous Premier League and Bundesliga clubs, but he’s chosen to join the reigning Premier League champions.

The news will come as a blow to Celtic, who have put a lot of time and effort into developing the 16-year-old attacking midfielder and all they’ll get back for their efforts will be a compensatory fee.

The appeal of Man City is obvious, given their standing in football and the amazing facilities they have at their academy.

Hopefully for Adam, he doesn’t just become another young player who gets lost in the shuffle at a big English club as he clearly possesses a lot of talent.

He may have found an easier path to first team football by staying at Celtic, given how keen the Hoops are to invest in youth prospects, but he’s backed himself to succeed at City and only time will tell if that turns out to be a wise decision.
